Mission Statement

The Department of Public Works is responsible for the maintenance of all City infrastructure located within the City’s right of way (ROW) and easements, including street pavement, sidewalks, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water mains and services, street lights, traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, landscaping, and forestry. The Department also provides services including garbage and recyclable collection, brush collection, leaf collection, and street sweeping. The divisions under the Department of Public Works includes Engineering, Streets, Water and Wastewater Utilities, and Forestry. The Department is supervised by the Director of Public Works.

Port Moves - Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan

Port Moves is an active transportation plan (ATP) that starts with the City’s current walking, biking, and rolling environment as a foundation. It builds upon existing work to create a strategy for Port Washington that will improve active transportation for all users through program, policy, and infrastructure recommendations. It creates a framework to make the city a safer, more comfortable, and more enjoyable place for people traveling by foot or bike, creating a Port Washington where more people can explore, visit, and thrive.
