Welcome to SAFEbuilt Inspections. We are a leader in the inspection industry for residential and commercial plan review and inspections. We are contracted through the City of Port Washington to ensure quality development and property maintenance. Inspections are required by law and City ordinance.
- Review plans and issue all construction related permits.
- Collect permit fees.
- Inspect and enforce local, state, and national construction codes.
- Inspect and enforce local property maintenance codes.
- Investigate and respond to resident’s complaints.
- Provide information to residents, contractors, and designers.
- Maintain records related to building construction.

Complete, sign, date, and upload a copy of the paper application found below under Permit Forms to the online portal. Please include your email address.
RESIDENTIAL APPLICATIONS:
New Homes- Please upload building permit application, all plans, heat loss calcs and survey
Additions/Alterations/Accessory Building - Upload building permit and plans. For Additions and Accessory Buildings also upload survey or GIS map
Fences/Decks/Sheds - Upload permit, plans and survey or GIS map
COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS:
New Commercial Buildings - Please upload building SBD Form, plans, heat loss calcs and survey. All building and HVAC plan reviews should be applied for separately.
Additions/Alterations/Accessory Building - Upload building permit and plans. For Additions and Accessory Buildings also upload survey or GIS map
All other permits: Upload permit, submit. Fees will be verified by SAFEbuilt Inspections and you will receive an email with those fees.
Strategic Plan - Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
- Total number of permits issued indicates the amount of construction and growth occurring in the city.
- Total Permit Revenue, the total dollar amount the city brings in from building permits, violations, and lien settlement requests.
Mission Statement
The Building Inspection Department issues all permits required under the provisions of the electrical, plumbing and building codes of the City. Permitted work is inspected to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and Local codes, ordinances, and requirements. This department is supervised by the Director of Inspection and Zoning Code Enforcement Officer who shall supervise the electrical, plumbing and building inspectors, under the direction of the City Administrator.
