About the Interurban Trail https://www.interurbantrail.com/
The Ozaukee Interurban Trail is a 30-mile paved trail that spans the length of Ozaukee County and connects the communities of Mequon, Thiensville, Cedarburg, Grafton, Port Washington, and Belgium. The trail corridor follows the former Interurban Electric Railway route, which operated from 1908 until 1951. After rail service ended, the corridor remained in utility ownership and was later converted into a recreational trail beginning in 1975. In 1998, Ozaukee County and local communities partnered to lease land from Wisconsin Electric (now We Energies) and complete development of the modern trail system. Today, the trail is used for both recreation and transportation and serves as a regional connection linking communities, businesses, and employment centers.
